Sometimes when you think about a person’s presence, their vibe, the general energy they bring to a room, you might call it their aura. But have you ever really thought about what that word means? Until very recently, I hadn’t. I looked it up and found the following definition: a subtly pervasive quality or atmosphere seen as emanating from a person, place, or thing. But if you ask a person who works with energy healing, they go even deeper to describe Auras as a field of energy or light that surrounds a person and that understanding your aura can actually say a lot about you.
These auras come in various colors and can change depending on the person’s state of health – physical, emotional or mental. And much like we associate different astrological signs with certain traits (Leo’s are proud – Sagittarians are adventurous), similarly auras can represent personality traits as well. The intensity of the color is also of note. A deep, dark red aura can mean that you’re centered and grounded to the earth versus a bright red aura which can signify a passionate and competitive energy.
The Rainbow Aura
A special mention goes to the Rainbow Aura- because how cool does that sound?! Rainbow auras are found in sensitive souls who often become healers, especially those trained to work with the body's energy fields. Rainbow auras are typically seen as shards of colorful light, resembling a sunburst. People with these auras are thought to be highly evolved spiritually and is attuned to the spiritual frequency of the fifth dimension (also called heaven). (This one is definitely getting its very own blog post sometime soon!)
Your Spiritual Colors: Auras and Chakras
Like Auras, Chakras also come with specific spiritual colors. There are 7 main Chakras and they are responsible for distributing the energy throughout the body. The first, or root chakra is associated with the color red, and the last, or Crown chakra is associated with the color purple. Each color reflects a type of vibration or frequency radiating through the chakras. Red for the root chakra (first chakra) symbolizes safety, survival, grounding, nourishment from the Earth energy. Purple for the crown chakra (seventh chakra); it’s associated with the universal, connection with spirituality, consciousness.
There are some differences between auras and chakras: namely that aura colors change with one’s mood but the chakras colors are more deeply anchored and remain constant. Only a major life event can change the color of one’s chakras. Furthermore, Auras are on the outside while Chakras are internal. Outside of these differences, chakras and auras together constitute the spiritual colors of an individual and can be used together to understand an individuals health and well-being. For example, seeing a green aura around someone’s upper body while they are describing their relationship might be due to a strong emphasis coming from their heart chakra, an energy center we commonly rely on when we envision matters of our heart.
Knowing your Spiritual Colors not only adds a fascinating dimension to understanding yourself but can be super empowering in trying to figure out where you might be blocked energetically.
